Backdrop
There was a time when India was known as “Vishwa Guru”, and it had a leading role in various academic & spiritual disciplines. Some of these include areas like spirituality and religion (Vedas, Upanishads, and other scriptures), educational system (Nalanda, Takashila, and others), mathematics (Vedic math), astronomy, astrology, language (Sanskrit), health and wellbeing (Yoga, meditation, disciplines of medicine like Ayurveda, Unani, etc.), political science, culture, music (classical & folk), dance formats, traditional art, among many others.
India had great personalities, institutions and processes. Some of these are well documented. The New Education Policy (NEP) 2020 aims to integrate IKS with the school / college curriculum.
